Corinthians sextet features in Brazil women's win over Costa Rica friendly

The Brazilian Women's National Team took to the field on the evening of last Friday (27th) to face Costa Rica in a friendly match at the Alejandro Morera Soto Stadium in Alajuela, and won by a score of 5-2. The goals for the Canarinho were scored by Jheniffer (twice), Adriana, Tainá Maranhão, and Kerolin. Six players from Alvinegro participated in the victory, with four of them starting the match as part of the starting lineup.

Coach Arthur Elias lined up the following team to start the match: Thais Lima, Fe Palermo, Thais Ferreira, Mariza, and Tamires; Duda Sampaio, Kerolin, and Bia Zaneratto; Tainá Maranhão, Jaqueline, and Jheniffer. Among the substitutes, the following Alvinegro players were present: Lelê, Ana Vitória, and Gabi Zanotti – the last two came on to replace Kerolin and Jaqueline, respectively, during the match.

The Brabas midfielder, Duda Sampaio, was one of the highlights of the match. She provided an assist to forward Jheniffer, who scored twice to open the scoring in the friendly. The center forward, it’s worth noting, wore the Corinthians shirt between 2021 and 2024, scoring 60 goals and providing 24 assists in 131 matches (74 as a starter).

According to Sofascore, a sports statistics app, the Brabas received the following ratings in the match: Thais Ferreira (6.9), Tamires (6.5), Duda Sampaio (8.1), Jaqueline (6.5), Gabi Zanotti (6.8), and Ana Vitória (6.7). Of the seven called up, only goalkeeper Lelê was not used in the match against Costa Rica. The Brazilian National Team, with almost 15 minutes into the first half, was already winning 2-0 and finished the first half with a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, they saw their opponents score twice and reduce the Canarinho's lead on the scoreboard. Soon after, Arthur Elias made changes to the team, which had an effect, and they regained their margin, finishing the match with a 5-2 victory. The Canarinho will now return to the field next Wednesday (4th), at 6pm, at the Mexican Football Federation Training Center in Toluca, to face Venezuela.
