Dan Burn has been talking about the Alexander Isak transfer saga at his England press conference.
The Newcastle United star finding himself having to field questions on club matters, as well as a few on Saturday’s match.
Dan Burn declaring that he had ‘nothing but good wishes’ for his ‘mate’ Alexander Isak and is just happy that the whole transfer saga is at an end.
England play Andorra on Saturday and the fact that the Newcastle defender was chosen for media duties today alongside Thomas Tuchel, surely points to Dan Burn getting his third cap tomorrow.
Dan Burn England press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against Andorra and asked about the Alexander Isak transfer saga – 5 September 2025:
“We wanted the transfer window to close, to have a bit of clarity on it.
“I’m happy it’s over.
“Alex is a mate, so it’s a tough situation.
“You want him around to help the team but also for him, he has things to do personally.
“So I have nothing but good wishes.
“You want players to be there who want to play for Newcastle United.
“But I have been in the game long enough now to understand what goes on and I wish Alex all the best.
“Apart from obviously when we play Liverpool.”
This is the September 2025 international schedule for Newcastle United players:
Thursday 4 September
Slovakia 2 Germany 0
Nick Woltemade making his third appearance for Germany but starved of service. Germany missing many of their best players, especially creatively. Germany deservedly beaten in their opening World Cup group qualifier. Rudiger and Tah especially poor in defence.
Friday 5 September
Brazil 3 Chile 0
Bruno Guimaraes putting in a top class performance in this dominant World Cup group qualifier victory. Topping it off by scoring the third and final goal, Bruno rated man of the match. Joelinton not named in the matchday squad and it appears he has stayed in Newcastle to make sure he comes back from injury against Wolves in eight days time.
