According to The Telegraph, Crystal Palace right-back Danny Imray is close to joining Wrexham in a deal worth around five million pounds, dealing a setback to West Bromwich Albion’s hopes of re-signing their former loanee.
Albion had targeted a return after his impressive spell at The Hawthorns last season, and the Eagles academy graduate, who turns 23 on Monday, is poised for a permanent move away from Selhurst Park.
Imray recovered from a shaky start to become integral to James Morrison’s survival push, delivering strongly across 16 Championship appearances.
He has featured in Palace’s pre-season as he looked to impress new head coach Pierre Sage. Wrexham, managed by Phil Parkinson, finished one place and two points outside the play-offs in their first Championship campaign after three successive promotions.
Asked about Imray after Albion’s 4-1 friendly win at Shrewsbury on Saturday, Morrison declined to be drawn on a player at another club.
Meanwhile, Albion’s move for French right-back Nolan Galvez, 23, has stepped up following his standout season with Rodez in France’s second tier, with Southampton reportedly among the other suitors.
Returning left-back Conor Townsend, 33, became Albion’s fifth summer signing on Friday night, sealing a Hawthorns comeback after two years away.
