Former West Brom head coach Eric Ramsay has been linked with the Wales job if Craig Bellamy leaves, with Burnley reported to be strongly interested in Bellamy.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wales are planning for the possibility of Bellamy moving to the relegated Premier League club, who will face Albion in the Championship next season. The 34-year-old has not returned to management since his brief spell at The Hawthorns.
Ramsay was appointed as Ryan Mason’s successor on January 11, then dismissed after 44 days following a winless run of nine matches.
That sequence deepened the Baggies’ relegation troubles, before former player and coach James Morrison guided a late push to secure survival.
The Football Association of Wales are reported to have kept tabs on Ramsay, who joined Albion from Minnesota United and has worked with Wales’ youth teams. He has also served as assistant at Manchester United and in the Chelsea academy.
From the Shropshire Welsh border, he previously held academy and first-team roles at hometown club Shrewsbury.
Burnley are seeking a new manager to replace the sacked Scott Parker, and it is said the Welsh FA are seeking £1 million in compensation for Bellamy.
Should Bellamy depart, the potential shortlist to succeed him also includes Steve Cooper and recently sacked Wolves boss Rob Edwards.
