Fenerbahce are monitoring Newcastle United striker Yoane Wissa and weighing a summer move, according to Turkish-Football.com. The DR Congo international has endured a difficult debut campaign on Tyneside.

Wissa joined from Brentford last summer in a deal worth up to £55 million, taking the No 9 shirt after Alexander Isak was sold to Liverpool. Days later he suffered a serious knee injury on international duty, sidelining him for five months.

He returned in December but has struggled for rhythm, scoring one Premier League goal and largely limited to late cameos. His market value is understood to have fallen from about £36 million to £26 million this season.

Fenerbahce sense an opportunity for a forward comfortable centrally and wide, a role he excelled in at Brentford. Eddie Howe has urged patience, saying Newcastle have not yet seen the best of him. Even so, the Istanbul club are assessing a loan or cut-price permanent option.

Any deal is complicated by finances. A sale now could mean a loss and affect PSR calculations, and Newcastle are thought to need around £40 million to cover amortisation, a figure likely beyond Fenerbahce. With Newcastle reportedly seeking new attackers, including interest in Folarin Balogun, a loan from Türkiye could appeal.
