Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella attributed his lovely strike against Atalanta to his training routine.

The 27-year-old has a knack for producing screamers, and he did so once more on Friday night.

The Nerazzurri demolished their guests Atalanta by four unanswered goals. This included an own-goal from Berat Djimsiti and a brilliant brace from Marcus Thuram.

Nevertheless, Barella’s volley was the highlight of the evening.

Alessandro Bastoni’s long throw-in sparked a scramble on the edge of the box. Barella managed to pounce on the loose ball with a vicious volley that left Marco Carnesecchi with no chance of saving it.

After the match, the midfielder revealed that this goal didn’t come by coincidence, but through sheer practice.

The Sardinian admitted that he trains on this sort of situation during the week.

“The goal? Staying out on the corners, I try to practice this type of situation,” said Barella in his post-match interview with DAZN via FcInterNews.

“It isn’t easy, but I found the right coordination. It’s always difficult to play against Atalanta.

“Thankfully, my goal served to get a bit of a cushion on the scoreline.”

Thuram took the opportunity to tease Barella after the match. He jokingly said he tries to learn the Italian’s shooting technique while watching his YouTube video.

“It’s also right to joke after a match that from the outside seemed easy, but was in fact difficult,” noted the Nerazzurri vice-captain.

“Against Atalanta, it is always tough. But we won, also thanks to two strikes from Marcus. He doesn’t even know how he did it,” joked Barella.

The Italian champions have now collected seven points from their first three Serie A outings. They settled for a 2-2 draw against Genoa on the opening day before beating Lecce last weekend.
