Isaac Schmidt leaves Leeds United for Young Boys for around two million pounds

Isaac Schmidt’s two-year spell at Leeds United is over, with the full-back set to join Swiss club Young Boys for around two million pounds today.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the fee will cover the player’s book value, meaning Leeds will not record a loss on the transfer.

Schmidt arrived at Elland Road in 2024 from FC St Gallen in a two and a half million pound deal. He did not convince Daniel Farke he could play full-back in the Championship title-winning side, and was instead used as an attacker in rare cameos off the bench.

He spent last season on loan with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, but that stint did not lead to a permanent move.

Young Boys have won the race to bring him back to his native Switzerland this summer, with the deal expected to be announced imminently.
