Italian newspapers have identified footballers named within a Milan inquest into an alleged prostitution ring, while stressing none of them are under investigation.

Four people were arrested earlier this week amid a probe into a Milan-based events company allegedly used as a front. Il Giornale and ANSA report prosecutors are analysing seized devices and keywords.

The company is said to have sold all-inclusive luxury events to wealthy and high-profile clients, including hotel stays, parties, escorts and laughing gas, which is illegal for recreational use in Italy. Prostitution itself is not a crime in Italy, but profiting from it is.

Events were allegedly staged in Milan and on Mykonos, and reports in Italy claim around 70 professional footballers, including some from Milan, Inter, Juventus and Hellas Verona, were involved in some form.

Around 65 surnames have appeared in prosecutors’ files, including Cancellieri, Giroud, Hakimi, Huijsen, Maldini, Arthur Melo, Mota Carvalho, Niasse, Petagna, Ranocchia, Ruggeri, Skriniar, Vicario and Zortea.

Other names cited in full include Soualiho Meite, Nuno Tavares and Carlos Augusto. The reports also state that Dejan Stankovic contacted one of the arrested individuals on eight occasions.

Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport add that further names have surfaced, including Bastoni, Leao, Vlahovic, Bellanova, Calafiori, Bisseck, Pinamonti, Ricci and Scamacca.
