Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva is not short of suitors from Italy as he dwells upon his future past his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The 31-year-old is yet to extend his Manchester City deal beyond 2026 and has admitted that he has already made a decision on his club future, hinting that he will announce his plans in due course prior to a return to AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League a few weeks ago.

Since joining Manchester City from AS Monaco in 2017, Silva has won six Premier League titles amongst a plethora of domestic silverware, a historic treble and the Blues’ maiden UEFA Champions League title in the 2022-23 season.

Pep Guardiola handed the Manchester City armband to Silva this summer after the notable departures of Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne, with officials at the Etihad Stadium allowing Silva the chance to mull over his future into the final year of his deal.

City have risked the possibility of losing Silva on a free transfer next summer – as they did with De Bruyne last season and Ilkay Gundogan in 2022 – and there are currently no indications of contract renewal talks between newly-appointed director of football Hugo Viana and Silva.

Silva is represented by super agent Jorge Mendes and there will not be a dearth of suitors for a player of Silva’s calibre and CV, with the Manchester City skipper formally able to negotiate with clubs from January 1, 2026 – should he want to proceed with an exit from England.

It is not the first time that Silva has been linked with an exit from Manchester City, who was regularly seen the Portugal international attract interest from clubs across Europe since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Silva has publicly admitted in the past that he does want to move closer to his homeland and after what will become a decorated nine-year stint in England, the former Benfica man may choose to start a new chapter and bid an emotional farewell to Manchester City.

As reported by Calciomercato and relayed by Sport Witness, Juventus and AC Milan have initiated early contact with Mendes to enquire about Silva’s contract demands as the Italian giants weigh up a stunning swoop for the Manchester City captain.

The report mentions that Silva is understood to be earning around €10 million annually at the Etihad Stadium – a figure that will be difficult to match for Juventus and AC Milan and is likely to see the Serie A duo raise the prospect of Silva accepting a pay cut should he want to join them.

Silva is not approaching the twilight of his career and should he reject Manchester City’s inevitable offer to renew, he is unlikely to move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career despite the finances on offer in the Middle East.

Benfica are also very keen on bringing Silva back to his boyhood club and Manchester City are expected to push Silva to relay a decision on his future as soon as possible – which could see the Blues lose another star figure whose impact on the club over the years cannot be done justice in any amount of words.
