Manchester City are reportedly working on finding a long-term replacement for their legendary manager, Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard was appointed by Man City for the 2016-17 season, where he guided the club to second in the Premier League.

However, success soon followed, and the former Barcelona head coach has taken Man City to a new level.

Guardiola has won six Premier League titles, one Champions League, four EFL Cups, and two FA Cups so far.

Manchester City fear Pep Guardiola could leave

The Spaniard has a contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, but according to The Telegraph, there is a growing feeling that this could be Guardiola’s final season at the club.

While Pep has honoured contracts in every club he has managed, the possibility of him leaving at the end of the season cannot be ruled out.

The report claims that Man City are planning a three-man shortlist with former Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso leading the way.

Vincent Kompany could become one of the options for the Citizens, but the chances of him leaving Bayern are slim.

Kompany is a club legend at City, and everyone respects him highly for all he has achieved as a player. As a manager, Kompany has been doing an amazing job at Bayern, and it makes sense for Man City to bring back their hero at the club as Guardiola’s successor.

Bayern were aware of Manchester City’s managerial situation and that they could look to bring Kompany back to the club.

This is why the Bavarian giants handed him a new contract in October, which runs until 2029.

Kompany signed the deal because he wants to stay at Bayern, believes in the project there, and is not currently keen to move to any Premier League club, including Man City.

So, even if Man City make an approach to appoint Kompany if Guardiola leaves, the former Belgian defender is highly likely to continue at Bayern.
