Leeds transfer state of play as United States tour nears, Trafford, Brandt and Charles in focus | OneFootball

Leeds United will head to the United States this week with three live transfer possibilities still in play.

Daniel Farke’s squad fly out for a camp with friendlies against Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, World Cup players will rejoin as their three-week breaks end, and new signing Tarik Muharemovic has resumed his holiday after completing his move last week.

One target, Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, is now on his three-week break after England finished third at the World Cup. He could leave the Etihad this summer and Leeds are in the conversation. There is currently no active pursuit of Royal Union Saint-Gilloise goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen, though he remains on their radar.

Free agent Julian Brandt remains a player Leeds want, with his Borussia Dortmund deal expiring. His father Jurgen visited Thorp Arch for talks last week. Other clubs are also competing for the 30-year-old.

Leeds are not actively chasing Lyon’s Czech attacker Pavel Sulc at present. That stance could change if other planned moves do not materialise.

The summer’s longest-running saga is the push for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. Claims of a deal being close or agreed have proved wide of the mark. Leeds remain hopeful of an agreement, but valuations are apart and the stalemate continues.

Leeds have previously completed signings during camps. Last summer Lucas Perri and Anton Stach joined after deals with Lyon and Hoffenheim were finalised, with staff flying to Germany and medicals arranged locally.
