The 2026 World Cup is in full swing across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The marquee event is currently dominating the headlines, but the summer transfer window, which officially opened on Monday, is also attracting the attention of football enthusiasts.
Leeds United endured a difficult start to the 2025-26 campaign but an eight-game unbeaten run towards the end of the season easily secured their Premier League status.
Attention now turns towards the transfer market, as the Whites look to consolidate their place in the English top-flight.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds are considering a move for Southampton star Shea Charles.
The West Yorkshire outfit want reinforcements in midfield and have identified Charles as an ideal option.
The 22-year-old is an academy product of Manchester City but joined Southampton in the summer of 2023 after making his senior debut for the Citizens.
After spending the 2024-25 season at Sheffield Wednesday, he returned to St Mary’s Stadium in the summer and played an important role for his side.
Despite missing over two months of action due to a hamstring injury, Charles featured 33 times in the Championship and scored in the play-off semi-final against Middlesbrough.
Despite defeating Boro in the final four, the Saints were expelled from the final over ‘Spygate’, which cost them a shot at Premier League promotion.
Charles helped Southampton beat Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-final last season as he left the bench to score the winner.
The talented midfielder also struck against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup last September.
Charles has just one year left on his contract at St Mary’s Stadium and Leeds could sign for a fee around £20 million.
