Football Insider reports that Leeds United are eyeing Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Leeds are expected to reinforce at left-back this summer, with Daniel Farke seeking depth and competition. Current options will be reviewed and cost-effective additions explored.
Cirkin, 24, has been influential on Wearside, winning promotion twice and helping their return to the Premier League. His forward intent and ball-carrying make him a persistent outlet on the left.
Leeds have also been linked with Matt Targett, who is anticipated to be a free agent this summer. Cirkin’s situation and Championship experience could keep him high on their list.
Head coach Régis Le Bris has said he does not know what comes next for Cirkin, pointing to three strong full-backs and the need for alignment between player and club. He accepted it might be the end of the story, while stressing it is too soon to decide.
Cirkin has made nine appearances this season, with only one brief substitute outing since the FA Cup win at Oxford in February. Interest is likely to grow as the window nears.
Le Bris added that no final call has been made on Bertrand Traoré, who is aiming for a partial return to training next week after a knee injury, with a games-based option and mutual decision to be considered.
Sunderland visit Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, looking to respond after back-to-back defeats to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
