Liverpool are reportedly chasing a Portugal international as they continue their rebuild. And this is a very interesting one.
Liverpool rebuilt their attack and their full-back positions this summer with some massive signings. In fact, the club spent more at left-back, right-back attacking midfielder and striker than they've ever spent before.
Record-breaking signings galore, then, but Liverpool are far from done. The Reds will continue their rebuild into 2026, with several more signings weighed up.
One area of concern is centre-back, where Liverpool attempted to get a deal done before the summer transfer deadline. Marc Guehi was supposed to join the club from Crystal Palace but the Eagles collapsed the deal right at the last minute.
Now signing the player is difficult as he prepares to enter the final six months of his contract. Interest is enormous and while Liverpool will try to sign Guehi again, doing so for this season feels unlikely.
It has them looking elsewhere - and now another name is on the list.
Milan Live reports that Liverpool are fighting AC Milan and Wolves for Union Berlin star Diogo Leite. The 26-year-old is highly sought-after and the Reds are apparently in that battle.
It does make sense. Leite would almost certainly cost a lot less than some of the other targets on Liverpool's shortlist, while he might actually be available in January.
