According to Globo.com, Grêmio's new head coach Luís Castro, 64, will be supported by six staff members, twice the size of Mano Menezes's group and one more than he had at Botafogo in 2022-2023, his only Brazilian job at the time.
His team comprises assistants Vítor Severino and Pedro Mané, goalkeeping coach Daniel Correia, performance analyst Nuno Baptista, and fitness coaches Nuno Cerdeira and Roberto Júnior (Betinho). All are Portuguese except Betinho, a Brazilian and former Flamengo.
João Brandão, an assistant at Botafogo, is not included. Pedro Mané did not work at Botafogo and linked up with Castro at Al-Nassr, his penultimate job, before Al Wasl.
Nuno Cerdeira joined Castro's staff in 2023 at the Saudi club.
Grêmio's permanent backroom, assembled under president Alberto Guerra, includes assistant coach James Freitas, fitness coach Rogerio Dias and goalkeeping coach Mateus Famer, who remain listed on the club's website as part of the Football Department.
Separately, the Odorico Roman administration sacked Fernando Lázaro, the ex-Corinthians coach who had led the data analysis department since 2024.
