FC Barcelona were in for a rude shock last evening when it emerged that one of their most talented La Masia youngsters, Dro Fernandez, would not be staying at the club and moving elsewhere in the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has progressed rapidly through the ranks under Hansi Flick, and the German manager would have been disappointed with the teenager’s decision to leave elsewhere in search of regular minutes.
It has been widely mentioned that PSG is the club that is willing to pay his release clause of around €6m. The French giants are managed by Luis Enrique, and the former Barcelona manager was asked after the 3-0 win against LOSC Lille about the 18-year-old’s transfer.
As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, he said: ‘Don’t know, no comment.’
Typically, in transfer dealings, both buying and selling clubs like to keep their cards close to their chest until the actual transfer goes through. Thus, it comes as no surprise to see Lucho be so coy with his response about Dro.

As for the player, it’s a shame that he has chosen to move elsewhere. Flick had placed immense trust in Dro and kept him permanently in the first-team scheme of things, but as advised by his agent, he is making a different decision for his career.
It won’t be long before the 18-year-old realizes that there is no better place to learn and develop than Barcelona. However, with both Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez ahead of him in the pecking order, the decision is somewhat justified, and let’s wait and see how things play out.
