Rangers midfielder Connor Barron has claimed that his side are full of confidence ahead of Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup Semi Final with Celtic. Rangers held on to win against Hibernian at Easter Rd, with the hosts spurning a late penalty to draw level.

The result moves Danny Röhl’s side into 3rd, making it two wins out of three for the German manager. Despite the humiliation in his first game, the former Sheffield Wednesday manager appears to have convinced the players in the Ibrox dressing room that things are improving.

As reported by Record Sport, the ex-Aberdeen midfielder believes that his side are in a good place ahead of the meeting at Hampden.

“Of course, we’re massively confident.

“We’ve had back to back wins so we need to go again.

“There’s a good feeling in the dressing room now, so we just have to continue with that.

“Do we feel in a better place? Definitely.

“We’re not getting too carried away with ourselves, we know what we need to do.

“We will recover from Wednesday and get ready for the weekend.”

After his grandstanding, it transpired that Barron was actually suspended for the game having collected two booking in the last two rounds.

Celtic won the Premier Sports Cup last December with Brendan Rodgers’ side beating Rangers on penalties. Since then, Rodgers has departed Celtic while Philippe Clement and Russell Martin have been dismissed from Ibrox, meaning that the spectacle on Sunday makes for interesting viewing.
