Santos returned to work at CT Rei Pelé on Wednesday after two days off, starting preparations for Sunday’s Campeonato Paulista quarter-final at Novorizontino.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the headline development was Christian Oliva’s presence at the training centre. The 29-year-old Uruguayan completed medical tests on Tuesday, took part in physical work and met his new team-mates.
He is awaiting work visa documentation, and only once the administrative steps are finalised and his registration appears on the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário will he be officially announced and eligible to play.
On the pitch, Juan Pablo Vojvoda led technical and tactical drills geared towards the tie, with the staff beginning to shape a likely starting side for Novo Horizonte.
Centre-back Adonis Frías has advanced his recovery from a right calf muscle injury and is already in on-field transition, giving him a chance to be included. Zé Rafael, treating patellar tendinopathy in his left knee, has also begun transition work with physiotherapy but remains a doubt.
The one-off match kicks off at 16:00 at the Estádio Jorge Ismael de Biasi, known as the Jorjão, with penalties to decide it if level. The winners progress to the semi-finals.
