Paulo Fonseca praises Lyon recruiters, singles out Benjamin Charier | OneFootball

Paulo Fonseca has praised the recruitment team at Olympique Lyonnais, singling out Benjamin Charier as probably the best scout he has worked with.

According to Le Progres, OL’s scouting has delivered since last summer despite limited resources, aided by the extensive networks of Mathieu Louis-Jean and Michaël Gerlinger.

That work could in time bolster the club’s finances as several signings gain value. Crystal Palace showed strong interest in Ruben Kluivert, ready to table an offer between €20m and €30m in the final hours of the winter window.

Fonseca said the immediate benefits are on the pitch. At his Friday press conference he highlighted how Charier understands OL’s style, has identified players with the right attributes, and has the knack for discovering those profiles.

He underlined that the unit’s output is of a high standard and aligned with what he wants. It is another indication that things are aligning at OL right now.
