It has been another season filled with injury problems for Real Madrid which has had a critical impact on the team’s performances.

There are only a handful of players in the squad who have had no physical issues this season, and superstar Kylian Mbappe is not one of them.

The Frenchman has been hit with multiple injuries during the course of the season, the latest of which he picked up last week against Real Betis, ruling him out of the upcoming game against RCD Espanyol.

Mbappe left searching for answers

As reported by MARCA, Mbappe has been left flummoxed and frustrated by the number of injury problems he has had since joining Real Madrid.

The French forward arrived from PSG with a record of 13 medical absences over seven years at the Parisian club, all of them minor. In fact, across the three seasons prior to his move to Real Madrid, he accumulated just 42 days out through injury.

That situation contrasts sharply with his time at Real Madrid. Across two seasons with the Spanish club, he has already suffered 13 physical issues, four in his first campaign and nine in the current one.

His injury problems have increased significantly, and his latest muscular issue has further heightened his frustration.

Mbappe’s injury ordeals this season

Between October and November this season, Mbappe experienced three minor issues with his right ankle, which mainly affected his involvement with the French national team, causing him to miss matches during two international breaks.

The next setback was the knee injury, which he picked up after a knock vs Celta Vigo on 7 December. The discomfort ruled him out of the UCL match against Manchester City three days later, although he was on the bench.

The issue initially appeared minor, as he returned for the following match against Alaves. However, the problem did not fully resolve and after the Christmas break, he suffered a relapse. A scan revealed ligament damage, requiring at least three weeks out.

Despite this, he returned to training just 11 days later. He missed the league match against Real Betis and the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, but travelled to Saudi Arabia. He was a substitute and played only 14 minutes in the Clasico final that Real Madrid lost.

Mbappe then suffered another setback – his third due to the knee. He attempted to continue but was forced to stop again. He was included in the squad against Real Sociedad but did not play, marking another interruption and raising concerns.

Then in February, there was another setback with the same knee, with the forward going to Paris for treatment, creating controversy due to an alleged misdiagnosis by the Madrid medical staff. It sidelined him for three weeks before he made his return mid-March.

Now, a new muscular injury has once again sidelined him. The situation continues to worsen, and Mbappe cannot find answers for the drastic change in his physical condition.
