Serie A champions Inter are reportedly preparing to overhaul their midfield options at the end of the season. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the San Siro giants have set their sights on Manu Kone and Curtis Jones.
With Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan expected to leave the club, Inter must add to Cristian Chivu’s midfield options in the coming months. Indeed, the Nerazzurri have already decided not to renew the Armenian veteran’s expiring contract.
Meanwhile, Frattesi has grown frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities. Therefore, the 26-year-old is eager to find a new club, with Roma reportedly interested in bringing him back to the Stadio Olimpico.
Though Inter are unlikely to use the former Sassuolo man as a bargaining chip in their effort to sign Kone, they’re likely to open talks with the Giallorossi before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Frenchman has emerged as the club’s top target for the summer transfer window.
On the other hand, Roma have slapped a substantial €40 million price tag on their sought-after star. That won’t deter Inter, who have been hot on Kone’s trail since last summer. However, the 25-year-old is not the only midfielder on Beppe Marotta’s shortlist.
Inter had a chance to sign Jones in January. Despite being offered to Marotta by his representatives, the Englishman ultimately stayed at Liverpool. However, after failing to secure regular first-team football at Anfield, he is ready to pack his bags in the summer.
More importantly, Inter had agreed on personal terms with the player during the winter transfer window before Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal. Therefore, they remain optimistic about reviving the transfer in the coming months.
