Owen Elding headed Hibernian in front in the 42nd minute, setting up a 2-0 win over St Mirren. It was his first goal for Hibernian since joining this season.
Early on, Elding had already threatened, nodding a chance wide and flashing another effort off target, while drawing fouls that kept Hibs high up the pitch.
From a Daniel Berlaser delivery following a corner, he peeled into space to glance his header into the top left corner, a set piece movement that rewarded his near post runs.
He finished with three attempts, six touches in the box and five possession regains, plus two aerial wins, underlining how his presence pinned St Mirren back.
After the restart, the Hibees used his hold up play and pressing to relieve pressure before he made way, with his opener shaping the game's tempo.
Hibs sit fifth and visit Celtic next. St Mirren, 10th, host Motherwell next.
