Downs, MCA play to goalless draw

MC Alger and Mamelodi Sundowns played to a goalless draw in a CAF Champions League clash at Stade Ali-la-Pointe on Friday night.

In a highly anticipated match, clear-cut goal scoring opportunities were limited from both sides as Rulani Mokwena and Miguel Cardoso adopted a fairly tactical approach, albeit different style of plays.

The South African tactician managed to neutralize Downs' front men and saw his side win the battle in the heart of midfield.

MCA managed to get few chances but a lack of cutting edge in the final third was their downfall, allowing Sundowns to walk away with a valuable point.

As a result, the Algerian champions remain in third place with one point from two outings, while Cardoso's men maintain their spot at the summit of Group C with four points in as many matches.

Sudanese heavyweights Al-Hlilal Omdurman have the chance to go atop the standings when they face FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo in DR Congo on Sunday.
