Vangelis Pavlidis scored in Benfica’s 2-1 win at Santa Clara, taking his Liga Portugal Betclic tally to 20 and etching his name into club history.
According to Record, he is only the seventh Benfica player this century to reach 20 league goals.
The opener to matchweek 22 saw the Greek forward continue his impact for the Eagles. The last time a Benfica player hit at least 20 in a league season was 2021/22, when Darwin Núñez finished on 26.
Pavlidis will end matchweek 22 as the outright leader for the Bola de Prata, with Luis Suárez suspended for Sporting’s home game against Famalicão after an accumulation of bookings. The Colombian stands on 19.
Across the season he has played 40 competitive matches for Benfica, 22 in the league, 12 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. In 3,257 minutes on the pitch he has 28 goals and five assists. He is valued at 35 million euros.
