Spain have enjoyed a fine first half against Bulgaria as they open their World Cup qualifying campaign in Sofia. La Roja are firmly in control at the break, with some lovely highlights to show for their efforts.
It took all of five minutes for Spain to take the lead. Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal was perhaps the surprise choice to begin through the middle as the number nine for Luis de la Fuente, but his selection was rewarded swiftly.
Shortly after Lamine Yamal’s deflected cross fell at the feet of Marc Cucurella in the box. The Chelsea left-back controlled and then found the far corner with a fierce strike.
Just five minutes before half-time, it was another Lamine Yamal cross, this time from a corner, that found Mikel Merino in the six-yard box. He rose highest for an easy finish.
