Victory over Girona will take Barcelona temporarily back to the top of La Liga, and they are currently heading there after taking an early lead at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic.

Hansi Flick was able to call upon the returning Lamine Yamal for this one, and 13 minutes in, he has made an impact. His pass reached Pedri inside the penalty area, and after running away from goal, the midfielder reversed the ball into the far corner via the post.

It’s Pedri’s second goal of the season, following his spectacular strike against Levante on MD2. This one was more understated, but it equally showed his quality, as he gave Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga the eyes before finding the far corner.

Barcelona needed an early goal to ease their nerves, which had built up after back-to-back defeats prior to the international break. They will fancy their chances of scoring more in the remaining minutes.
