Why Dennis Wise is now “genuinely excited” for Chelsea under the “new regime”

Former Chelsea captain has been explaining how he is now ‘genuinely excited’ about Chelsea under the new ownership group.

Wise was a hugely popular player at Stamford Bridge during his time there and many Blues fans would mark him down as one of their favourite ever captains. He worse his heart on his sleeve when he was playing for Chelsea and he left it all out there on the pitch. I’ve actually met him briefly too and he seems like an all round top guy.

It’s great to hear the opinions of some of our former players, especially ones who don’t speak so much – the opposite of John Obi Mikel, bless him!

Wise hardly ever talks on Chelsea and in fact, I can’t remember the last time he did. I certainly haven’t seen him speak on the club under the new ownership group, so it’s great to get his opinions.

What Wise has said

“I’m genuinely excited about the new Chelsea regime and these young signings. The minimum expectation this season has to be a Champions League spot – and hopefully more.

“Chelsea should be aiming to win at least one domestic trophy and push hard in the Champions League. They’ll want to be real contenders for the league too.

“Chelsea are deliberately targeting young talents, giving them long-term contracts, and backing them to grow – and so far, it looks like a clever strategy.”

Another former Chelsea player, Joe Cole, has been questioning whether Chelsea can go far in the Champions League this season whilst still having Robert Sanchez as number one keeper.

You have to feel a bit bad for defender Axel Disasi who admits he was doing all he could to rejoin Monaco in the summer transfer window but Chelsea did not let the move go through. Or more accurately, had used too many foreign loan spots already so Disasi could not go.
