Former Chelsea centre back William Gallas says that a player Chelsea signed is not looking like the same player he was.
The Blues have made MANY signings over the last couple of seasons, but not all of them have come in and had an amazing effect. There is plenty of time for them all to succeed at Chelsea, of course, but some of them need to do more now to step up and prove their worth and also, give themselves every chance of making it at the club rather than being just another player who gets churned out by this factory of players that Chelsea like to buy.
If they don’t make it at the club, Chelsea will happily sell them on for some profit, which is largely what they have been doing of late.
Striker Liam Delap for example, was only signed for £30m from Ipswich in the summer, so you can imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult to spin a bit of profit, or at least not lose anything on him, should they need to sell him down the line, or even very soon. That’s all on Delap though.
And Gallas says that Delap needs to do more in that sense.

In words cited on X, Gallas said on Delap this week:
“I think he has to start taking more risks. He has to try to be the same player he was at Ipswich, where he scored goals. He looked like he was enjoying his football.
“I know when you move to another club, especially a big club, you get more pressure, you try to do everything right, but no, just be who you are and take some risks and nobody will tell you not to.”
