Manchester United are lined up for a midfield rebuild next year.

Ruben Amorim’s midfield is just not where it needs to be.

While it has looked decent at times, like against Sunderland, in games such as the 1-1 draw with Fulham, it has been overpowered and run through.

Next year, INEOS must recruit dynamic midfielders capable of injecting the athleticism and technical brilliance Amorim craves for his engine room.

Yarmolyuk

The rumour mill has already linked some of these midfielders.

Yarmolyuk is a fine midfielder who has now been “set free”, fully unleashed at Brentford following Christian Norgaard’s switch to Arsenal.

Watching Yarmolyuk now, it is easy to spot a tireless midfielder who thrives in duels and defensive work, yet still contributes in possession.

He reads the game well, presses aggressively, and carries the ball with purpose.

He is the kind of all-action profile Brentford love to develop.

At £30 million, a bargain compared to the fees being quoted for other midfield targets, United could make their move.

But as The Peoples Person relayed, that tempting price tag has also drawn interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

And not just Spurs, what was shaping up to be a United-Spurs transfer race may soon become a three-horse contest.

Chelsea enter the frame

Dean Jones, via Teamtalk, reports:

“We can now reveal that Chelsea are the latest team to make checks on Yarmolyuk.

“Man Utd and Tottenham are curious over whether he could add new depth and quality to their squads, and it is understood Chelsea are now also starting to take notice.”

Jones also outlines Brentford’s stance on a potential exit:

“Brentford do not want to sell Yarmolyuk in the January transfer window.

“Given Yarmolyuk’s importance in the team, the London club’s firm stance is that he will stay until next summer.”

Waiting until next summer will not sit well with United fans.

Many would prefer this deal to be attacked and sealed the moment the window swings open.

Chelsea, Spurs or United, an easy decision

With the Blues and Lilywhites already stacked in midfield and United’s midfield easier to break into, the decision on where next for Yarmolyuk should be straightforward.

That said, United need a complete midfield rebuild. Yarmolyuk alone will not solve it, but he could be a step in the right direction as INEOS look to assemble Amorim’s dream midfield.
