Argentina to host Guatemala on 31 March after Finalissima cancellation

Argentina will host Guatemala on Tuesday 31 March, replacing the cancelled Finalissima against Spain. The Argentine Football Association said the squad will gather at home for a week-long camp under Lionel Scaloni before the friendly.

Spain will instead face Serbia on Friday 27 March. The international window runs from 23 to 31 March.

Details of the training programme, the squad list and the host stadium will be confirmed in the coming days.

UEFA also cancelled the Finalissima, which had been set for 27 March in Lusail, Qatar, and an Argentina friendly with Qatar planned for 31 March. It failed to reach agreement with CONMEBOL and the AFA amid disruption caused by the war in the Middle East.

The world champions are due to begin their World Cup campaign against Algeria on 17 June.
