At least 11 killed, 12 injured in Guanajuato football pitch attack | OneFootball

At least 11 people were killed in a shooting at a football pitch in Salamanca, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, one of the most violent in Mexico. The attack happened overnight from Sunday to Monday, with others wounded.

According to L'Équipe, local authorities are searching for those responsible. They confirmed 10 deaths at the scene and another in hospital, and said 12 people were being treated for gunshot wounds.

On Saturday night, four bags containing human remains were abandoned in the same city.

Guanajuato is an industrial hub with car assembly plants and tourist attractions, and rival organised crime groups contest drug trafficking and fuel theft.

The World Cup is five months away, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
