Barcelona define stance ahead of winter window on signings and exits

The winter transfer window in Europe is set to open in a week, with many clubs looking to strengthen their squads for the decisive stages of the season. FC Barcelona, however, appear ready to maintain the status quo.

This is quite clear from a report from MARCA, which claims that the Blaugrana Sporting Directorate has no plans to sign new players or allow departures before the end of the season. Neither head coach Hansi Flick has requested reinforcements, nor does the club have sufficient Financial Fair Play margin to accommodate new signings.

The possibility of strengthening the team was briefly considered following Andreas Christensen’s injury, but the club does not see suitable centre-back options in the winter market and prefers to revisit the matter in the summer.

Several players have recently been linked with potential exits. Marc-Andre ter Stegen, despite facing competition from Joan Garcia, is not planning a move and is expected to remain at the club.

Robert Lewandowski is also staying put and could be offered a renewal by the Catalan club if his performance continues to impress. Ronald Araujo, who has faced personal challenges following the Chelsea match, is set to return for the upcoming Barcelona derby.

Marc Casado and Marc Bernal, two young midfielders with limited minutes this season, will remain at the club. Casado is valued for his versatility, able to play both in midfield and at right-back, a profile Flick considers key for squad balance.

Marc Bernal, meanwhile, continues his recovery and adaptation following injury, with the coaching staff keen not to rush his progression.

With no departures or arrivals expected, Barcelona will rely on their current squad as Flick aims to compete for all available titles in the remainder of the season.
