Barcelona & Real Madrid stars sit out national team training | OneFootball

Leading players from the first-team ranks at both Barcelona and Real Madrid sat out group activities in training with the French national team on Tuesday.

From the former, it was Jules Koundé who played no part with the rest of Didier Deschamps’ squad. This comes after the former Sevilla man was left on the bench for Barca’s weekend victory over Celta Vigo.

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, meanwhile, was also given permission to skip the session. Camavinga featured from the off in Los Blancos’ goalless stalemate with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, but has been used strategically by manager Xabi Alonso over recent weeks to avoid another potential fitness setback.

Earlier today, though, the French medical staff saw it best to leave both ‘Cama’ and Koundé to watch on from the sidelines.

This came as a precaution, with both players, as per L’Équipe, expected to be called up for Les Bleus’ meeting with Ukraine on Thursday.

Whether they are considered well enough to start, on the other hand, remains to be seen.
