Corinthians confirm new assistant coach for the under-20s

The Athlete Development Department of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista has announced the hiring of João Paulo di Fabio to join the coaching staff of the Under-20 category as an assistant coach, as previously reported by Central do Timão. The professional arrives to strengthen the club's youth development work at a time when the department is undergoing restructuring.

A native of São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo, Di Fabio is in his third stint at Corinthians. Holder of the CBF A License, he began his journey at the club as a player, playing in the youth categories between 1995 and 2000. As a coach, he returned to Timão in 2017, staying until 2023, during which time he worked as coach of the Under-11s, as well as assistant and coach of the Under-15s.

In addition to his experience at Corinthians, João Paulo di Fabio has also worked at clubs such as Bahia, Nacional-SP, and Ibrachina. At the São Paulo teams, he performed the same role he will now have on the coaching staff led by William Batista in the Under-20 squad.

In his introduction, the new assistant spoke about the excitement of returning to the club and the responsibility of contributing to the development of the athletes. “It is a great thrill to be able to collaborate with Corinthians, for the full growth of the athletes. I have already worked with some of the players who are now in the Under-20s, and to assist in their development and pursuit of their dreams, while aligning this with the institution’s objectives, which is to maximize these players within the characteristics that a club of Corinthians’ size has,” he told the club’s communications team.

Corinthians’ youth football executive, Erasmo Damiani, also commented on the arrival of the professional and highlighted the importance of this addition to the department’s project. “It is a pleasure to have Di Fabio, who knows the club well and has the characteristics we are looking for in this restructuring of the department. I am certain he will contribute greatly so that our athletes can perform within the category and be ready when the first team needs them,” he stated.

Recently, the club hired Guilherme Nascimento (Under-17 coach), Gabriel Amaral (Under-17 assistant), and Douglas Pilar (Under-16 coach), who stood out at Athletico-PR, RB Bragantino, and Sfera, respectively, to work in the athlete development department. In addition, the club has an agreement with Cris Leison, who will join as the department’s market coordinator, as reported by Central do Timão.
