Corinthians have issued an injury update on Yuri Alberto after he was carried off in Sunday’s 1-0 win over São Bernardo in the final round of the Campeonato Paulista.

The club said in a statement that an MRI on Monday 16 showed a grade two injury to the biceps femoris in his left thigh.

The striker has begun rehabilitation with the club’s physiotherapy staff. A grade two biceps femoris injury is classed as a moderate strain or partial tear, typically affecting between five and 50 percent of muscle fibres.

Functional recovery and a return to sport generally take three to eight weeks, depending on his clinical progress. In 2024 he sustained a similar problem and was back in two weeks.

With Yuri sidelined, and Kaio César also recovering from an issue in the same area, Dorival Júnior can turn to Gui Negão, Vitinho, Kayke and Pedro Raul in attack. Memphis, the starter in that role, remains the main reference.

Corinthians are next in action on Thursday 19 at Athletico Paranaense’s Arena da Baixada in a rescheduled round two Brasileirão fixture. On 22 they face Portuguesa at Canindé in a one-off Paulistão quarter-final.
