Kicker reports that Eintracht Frankfurt could be active in the winter transfer window due to the impact on the Africa Cup of Nations on their squad.
The impacted position will be the midfield as both Ellyes Skhiri, who is currently out injured, and Fares Chaïbi will be absent from December 21 to at most January 18th, the last time this happened, Frankfurt struggled in the league.
Chaïbi has found a new lease of life at Deutsche Bank Park in his new position, partnering Hugo Larsson in a deeper midfield role.
At the end of the summer window, Frankfurt made a late attempt to sign Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge; however, they were unable to agree on a deal soon enough for the 24-year-old, and Sky Germany reports that they had offered a loan with an obligation to buy.
Whether they reenter the market in the winter is yet to be seen. An alternative is to give Oscar Højlund a run in the starting 11, as since joining from Copenhagen, Højlund has mainly been a role player.
