Barcelona took on Valencia at the Estadi Johann Cruyff late on Sunday night on matchday four of La Liga as they looked to get back to winning ways after dropping points in the last league fixture.

The mood in the Catalan camp, however, was far from perfect as the team were without Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, and Frenkie de Jong, all of whom suffered recent injuries.

Braces from Raphinha and Fermin Lopez helped the team take all three points comfortably, although a major part of the effort arrived only in the second half. The result, however, was never in question and Lewandowski buried a third brace for the team to put it to bed.

Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Barcelona 6-0 Valencia.

Joan Garcia: 7

The goalkeeper had a relatively silent night as Barcelona dominated the proceedings for the most part, giving the visitors barely any room to push for an attacking opening. Did not make any saves until the hour mark and was flawless with his distribution.

Gerard Martin: 7.5

With Alejandro Balde out injured, Gerard Martin took the starting spot in Barcelona’s starting lineup at left-back and looked surprisingly stable in the position.

The youngster ventured reasonably forward in attack but was a pillar defensively, pulling off massive clearances to keep Valencia at bay.

Pau Cubarsi: 7.5

Barcelona’s win over Valencia was perhaps one of Pau Cubarsi’s best performances of the season so far as the youngster looked stable in possession, solid in defence, and completely alert and in his zone.

The youngster’s pass completion rate was north of 90% and he excelled with his decision making, showing that he could put his average form behind him and start afresh with the right partner.

Eric Garcia: 7

The player featured as a centre-back against Valencia and looked more comfortable in the position than he did in the team’s last game. He did not have as much to do defensively as Cubarsi but ensured the partnership stayed impenetrable.

Jules Kounde: 6.5

Kounde’s involvement so far this season has been limited and subpar, and the player’s last performance before the international break rightly raised doubts over his form.

Last night’s game had a reasonable amount to show to reverse that school of thought, although Kounde is still not at 100%. He looked more comfortable in defence and possession, but his involvement in the final third was limited.

Marc Casado: 8

Casado returned to Barcelona’s starting lineup in Frenkie de Jong’s absence and did a phenomenal job in circulating the ball, holding the fortress, and forming a dynamic double-pivot with Pedri.

Earned the assist for Fermin Lopez’s second goal on the night, albeit not too much credit as it was a goal created and scored by the attacking midfielder himself.

Pedri: 7.5

The Canary Islander was at the centre of Barcelona’s ball-circulation through the night and had a more attacking role compared to his usual position given that Casado’s output was limited on that front.

Fermin Lopez: 9

The star of the night, Fermin Lopez owned the field against Valencia last night and looked comfortable in his role as an attacking midfielder, delivering a statement that he is here to stay in the process.

Fermin Lopez opened the scoring with a precise finish off Ferran Torres’ perfectly weighted assist. He then completed his brace with a bullet of a strike from long range after charging down the Valencia area and striking the ball clean as a whistle.

Marcus Rashford: 8

Marcus Rashford started on the night given Raphinha’s hectic journey back from international duty and looked to make the most of his chance and prove that he is getting closer to his best.

His performance, in many ways, achieved that as he completed 88% of his passes, two key passes, created one big chance and even provided the assist for Barcelona’s second goal on the night.

Ferran Torres: 7

Ferran Torres did not have the best of nights in terms of finishing but created a ruckus in the Valencia area with his movements and combination play.

Racked up the assist for Fermin Lopez’s opener and deserves all the praise for the same as his cushioning of the ball and impeding its course laid it on a platter for the midfielder.

Roony Bardghji: 7

The winger made his debut for Barcelona in La Liga and played the opening 45 minutes for the Blaugrana, racking up two key passes, one shot on target, and 80% of his passes.

A positive display as he did not look out of place in any capacity and was comfortable in the combination play.

Raphinha: 9

The Brazilian maestro came on for the second half and immediately made an impact, scoring in the 53rd minute with a simple tap-in off Rashford’s assist. Then went on to double the lead with a sublime volley just 13 minutes later.

Robert Lewandowski: 9

Came on as a late substitute and showed great confidence and technique to score Barcelona’s fifth goal on the night. Completed his brace with a lovely lobbed ball over the goalkeeper with razor sharp finishing once more.
