Fiorentina’s Conference League trip to Jagiellonia hit by absences and snow | OneFootball

According to Football Italia, Fiorentina will take a depleted squad to their Conference League play-off first leg at Jagiellonia, with injuries and illness compounded by wintry conditions.

The tie opens on Thursday at the Stadion Miejski w Bialymstoku in Bialystok at 20.00 GMT, 21.00 CET. The return is at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence next week.

Coach Paolo Vanoli’s mood was lifted by last week’s unexpected 2-1 Serie A victory away to Como, which moved them out of the relegation zone, but that win carried a cost. David De Gea dislocated a finger on his left hand and January signing Manor Solomon has flu symptoms, so Moise Kean, Dodo, De Gea and Solomon remain in Florence, along with injured Albert Gudmundsson and Tariq Lamptey.

Marco Brescianini, Oliver Christensen and Daniele Rugani are not on the UEFA squad list for this stage, so are ineligible. Vanoli has called up eight youth-team players, including two goalkeepers.

Luca Lezzerini should therefore play his first UEFA match for the Viola since the 3-2 Europa League defeat to PAOK in November 2016.

No risks will be taken with the most important players given heavy snowfall in Poland and a natural surface that has suffered in the freezing temperatures.
