First Non European Move: Santos Signs Winger Billal Brahimi on Contract Through 2026
Algerian international Billal Brahimi's officially signed with Brazilian giants Santos on contract running until the end of the 2026 season marking his first professional experience outside Europe.
Born in Beaumont sur Oise, France, the 25 year old represented several European clubs including Reims, Angers, Brest and Nice in France as well as Uniao de Leiria in Portugal, Middlesbrough in England and Sint Truidense in Belgium.
He also featured for France's youth teams before committing to Algeria where he's earned four senior caps.
In his unveiling, Brahimi expressed excitement at joining the historic club:
"Santos's legendary team connected to icons like Pele & Neymar. Their philosophy of developing talents convinced me to take this step. Playing in Brazil's unique challenge and I want to give my best for these colors"
Brahimi, primarily right winger, described himself as attacking player who thrives on dribbling creating chances and shooting from distance.
His versatility across the front line and pace could provide much needed boost to Santos, currently 14th in the Brasileirao with 26 point.
The move also gives Brahimi the chance to play alongside Neymar who recently rejoined Santos after decorated career in Europe.
