Lucas Paquetá is back at Flamengo, landing in Rio on Thursday morning to a raucous reception from supporters. According to Coluna Do Fla, his return follows a protracted negotiation with West Ham.

His flight touched down in Brazil at around 11:00 Brasília time. He left England by private jet with his family on Wednesday, shortly after the agreement was finalised.

On social media, his wife, Duda Fournier, shared footage of the deal being concluded, with Paquetá celebrating emotionally. Flamengo fans organised one of the biggest AeroFla airport welcomes to greet the club’s academy graduate.

On Wednesday, Flamengo raised their offer from 41 million euros to 42 million euros, prompting West Ham to accept an immediate release. The package includes 15.25 million euros paid up front, with the remaining 26.75 million euros in four instalments through to 2028.

Now in Rio, Paquetá is due at Ninho do Urubu for medical tests, then to sign a five-year contract.

Flamengo are working to register the midfielder in the CBF’s BID, with the expectation of having him available on Sunday in the Supercopa do Brasil against Corinthians.
