French champions Paris Saint-Germain have this weekend announced an altogether considerable double injury setback in the club’s first-team squad.

This comes amid confirmation that both Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué are set for incoming spells on the sidelines.

Both injuries came during France’s World Cup qualifying meeting with Ukraine late this week.

First, winger Doué was forced into a premature departure from the action, after picking up what appeared to be a muscular complaint.

Then, the man who replaced Doué in Didier Deschamps’ XI, PSG teammate Dembélé, also limped out of the action with a problem.

And as alluded to above, updates on the wellbeing of both players have since come to the fore online.

Just over three weeks out from a highly-anticipated Champions League showdown between PSG and Barcelona, the attacking duo have been all but ruled out.

As per a statement released by the reigning European champions:

‘After leaving the pitch injured during the match between Ukraine – France on Friday, Ousmane Dembélé has suffered a serious injury to his right hamstring. He is expected to be unavailable for around six weeks.

‘Also ‘picking up an injury during the encounter, Désiré Doué suffered a strain in his right calf and will be out for around four weeks.’
