Sunderland supporters’ group Red and White Army, RAWA, has criticised the club’s handling of ticketing problems, saying sales of unrenewed season tickets proceeded despite unresolved cases and sparse communication.
The group had urged a pause to protect loyal supporters facing difficulties, but say the club pressed on regardless and did not provide a final response. According to Sunderland Echo, the statement was issued on social media amid growing frustration.
RAWA said the pause was meant to ease the process and recognise loyalty and individual circumstances. They added that the lack of reply reflects a wider pattern in recent weeks when trying to represent fans’ views to the club.
The group say many long-standing season-ticket holders report extremely poor customer service. Several feel overlooked, particularly when attempting to switch seats.
RAWA hope the club will re-engage constructively with them so affected supporters can reach a fair and satisfactory outcome.
The intervention comes amid heightened scrutiny of Sunderland’s ticketing after promotion to the Premier League, with detailed accounts of problems around renewals, seat moves and pricing structures.
The group argue the difficulties are widespread rather than isolated. The club declined to respond when approached for comment this week.
