The meeting at Celtic Park unravelled into disorder on Friday morning, prompting Chairman Peter Lawwell to halt the session in under an hour.
Following an outbreak of disruption – marked by loud boos and jeers from shareholders as the board took their seats – the meeting was first paused for half an hour in an effort to calm the atmosphere in the room.
Audience members raised red cards in protest while shouting “out, out, out” and “sack the board.” When proceedings resumed shortly after 11am, they lasted only about 25 minutes before Lawwell opted to convene the 2025 PLC AGM instead.
This followed a scripted address from Ross Desmond – Dermot’s son – in which he branded a portion of Celtic supporters as “bullies,” further escalating the friction between the board and supporters.

As the agenda remained unfinished, shareholders were given until 5pm last night to submit their votes to Celtic Park. According to the Stock Exchange, Resolutions 1 through 15 were approved, while Resolutions 16 and 17 failed to pass.
Every motion to reinstate the current board members was approved, including figures such as Desmond, Lawwell, and Michael Nicholson.
Chris McKay, Brian Rose, Sharon Brown and Tom Allison were likewise returned to their director roles. The only proposals that failed were Resolutions 16 and 17, both submitted by The Celtic Trust.
Resolution 16 sought a five-year review of the club’s football, financial, and strategic operations, while Resolution 17 proposed a vote of no confidence in the board and its restructuring. Both were overwhelmingly rejected, with nearly 99 percent of votes unsurprisingly cast against them.

Meanwhile, yesterday, North Curve Celtic have called on Mark Hargreaves, Celtic FC’s Head of Safety, Security and Operations, to resign.
A series of tweets on their thread on X, read: “Michael Nicholson broke his famed silence to attack Celtic fans and defend the integrity of who appears to be his most valued summer signing – Mark Hargreaves. A decorated police officer with 25 years service in an institutionally racist organisation, here’s some more on Mark: As already known, Hargreaves is leading the Celtic operation against fans following the Falkirk ‘incident.’ What may be unknown, is that Mark’s brother-in-law (Mark Sutherland) is leading the police’s operation against fans. This gives weight to the concerns of collusion.”
“Hargreaves’ history with Celtic fans – and the Green Brigade – dates back further. In 2020, Hargreaves gave the call to unjustifiably kettle Celtic fans and other anti-racist activists in George Square following an anti-racism demo (in line with the values of the force.)”
“In 2021, Hargreaves also gave the call to kettle environmental protesters under the false and cynical pretense that there was intelligence to suggest they had been infiltrated by or affiliated with the Green Brigade (as if this would justify the unnecessary action for some.)”
The thread continued: “Hargreaves was the understudy of Bernard Higgins, a protagonist of the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act, who Celtic fans notoriously prevented from joining Celtic in 2021. This was achieved through sustained fan pressure and proved the value of disruptive protest.”
“Naturally, Hargreaves would learn a lot from Higgins through working with and reporting to him. As is public record, Police Scotland is institutionally bigoted. Hargreaves was a senior figure within this and guilty of trivialising sexism while overseeing a toxic sexist culture.”
“The police have waged war against Celtic fans for years, partly due to political and bigoted motivations. Hargreaves was balls deep in that culture up until March and has carried it into a compliant Celtic boardroom and security department.”
“Although the Celtic security department is mainly ex-police, NCC has only ever raised concerns regarding individuals who present clear conflicts of interest due to past or current behaviours i.e. Higgins, Hargreaves and Bryan Kelly, despite what Michael Nicholson purports.”
“Mark Hargreaves is not a fit and proper person to be responsible for the health, safety and security of Celtic fans and particularly the Green Brigade. It is believed that he has been given the directive to remove the Green Brigade at any cost. His position is untenable.”
