Robbie Keane is set to resign as Ferencvaros head coach after a runners-up finish in Hungary. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the former Wolves striker will leave 15 months into the job, having won the title in 2024/25.
The Molineux academy graduate has been listed among the frontrunners for the Celtic job this summer.
Celtic sealed the Scottish Premiership on the final day last weekend, pipping Hearts with victory. Veteran manager Martin O’Neill guided the team to the title, although it is unclear if the 74-year-old will stay beyond the summer.
Keane has also been linked with Slovakia champions Slovan Bratislava. He previously enjoyed a brief loan at Celtic in 2009/10, scoring 16 goals in 19 games.
His coaching path has taken him to India, Israel and Hungary. He served as player-manager at ATK in 2018, then led Maccabi Tel Aviv from June 2023 to June 2024, winning the league and the Israeli Cup in his one season before taking the Ferencvaros job in January 2025.
Keane has worked with Ireland and held roles at Middlesbrough and Leeds. As a player he struck 29 times in 87 games for second tier Wolves before a £6million move to Coventry, then a British record for a teenager.
