Robbie Keane is set to resign as Ferencvaros head coach after a second-placed finish in Hungary. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 45-year-old has spent 15 months in charge and won the 2024/25 title.
Keane has been listed among the frontrunners to take over at former club Celtic this summer.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership on the final day last weekend, pipping rivals Hearts with victory. Martin O’Neill guided the team to the crown, though it is unclear if the 74-year-old will remain beyond the summer.
Keane has also been linked with champions Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia.
The former Republic of Ireland forward had a brief loan at Celtic in 2009/10, scoring 16 goals in 19 games.
His three-club management career has taken him to India, Israel and Hungary. He briefly served as player-manager at ATK in 2018, then led Maccabi Tel Aviv from June 2023 to June 2024.
He has coached with Ireland and in England at Middlesbrough and Leeds. He scored 29 times in 87 matches for Wolves before a £6million move to Coventry, then a British record for a teenager.
