Robbie Keane is set to resign as Ferencvaros head coach after their second-place finish, according to ExpressAndStar.com.

The former Wolves striker has been in charge for 15 months. He won the Hungarian title in his first season in 2024/25, then finished runners-up this term.

He has been listed as a frontrunner for the Celtic job this summer, returning to a club where he once played. The Hoops clinched the Scottish Premiership on the final day last weekend, pipping Hearts. Martin O’Neill guided that triumph, although it is unclear if the 74-year-old will continue beyond the summer.

Keane has also been linked with Slovakia champions Slovan Bratislava. During a loan at Celtic in 2009/10, he scored 16 goals in 19 games.

His three-club management career has taken him to India, Israel and Hungary. He briefly served as player-manager at ATK in 2018. He then led Maccabi Tel Aviv from June 2023 to June 2024, winning the league and Israeli Cup, before taking over at Ferencvaros in January 2025.

A Wolves academy graduate, he has also coached with Ireland, and in England at Middlesbrough and Leeds. As a player he scored 29 times in 87 games for second tier Wolves before a move to Coventry for £six million, then a British record for a teenager.
