Switzerland confirmed their 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday, with head coach Murat Yakin leaning heavily on experience ahead of the tournament.
Among the standout names are captain Granit Xhaka, set to appear at his fourth World Cup, alongside defensive mainstays Manuel Akanji and Ricardo Rodriguez, both key figures for the Swiss over recent years.
There was also room for one of the country’s brightest young talents in 20-year-old Johan Manzambi. The Freiburg midfielder has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign and arrives at the tournament off the back of the German side’s run to the Europa League final.
This will be Switzerland’s sixth consecutive appearance at the World Cup, underlining the consistency they have built on the international stage over the past two decades.
The Swiss have been drawn in Group B alongside Bosnia, Canada and Qatar, with their campaign getting underway against Qatar on 13 June.
