Charlton Athletic have a couple of players who may be considering an exit from The Valley during the upcoming January transfer window.

The Addicks have made a positive start to life back in the Championship under Nathan Jones, and found themselves in the top 10 during the November international break as a result of their impressive performances so far.

However, not every member of Jones' squad is likely to be content with the minutes they have received during the 2025/26 campaign up to this point, with a few players having spent longer on the sidelines than they would have hoped for before the season started.

The likes of Rob Apter, Harvey Knibbs, Tanto Olaofe and Joe Rankin-Costello no doubt would have expected to make more starts by this stage when they completed moves to SE7 in the summer, but given the fact that Charlton have made such an encouraging start to the season in the second tier, it has not been easy to break into the starting eleven.

Knibbs touched on the fact that there is plenty of competition for places at The Valley in a recent interview with journalist Rich Cawley via his Substack.

"With the team doing so well it is hard to bed yourself in," the midfielder explained.

"The gaffer is keen on you impacting the best way you can in whatever time that may be - 30 minutes or 60 minutes."

It would be fair to assume that those summer signings who are yet to nail down a place in the starting lineup will get opportunities to prove their worth during the remainder of the season, while somebody like Luke Berry may well be happy to make a difference when called upon as an impact substitute, but a couple of Charlton's younger players may be considering a January departure in search of regular first-team football.

Let's take a look at two players who might be seeking a move away from The Valley during the winter transfer window.

Australian goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer is one Charlton player who may be looking to move on from the Championship club in January.

The 26-year-old has been with the Addicks since he was a teenager, and has racked up 87 first-team appearances for the Londoners.

However, following the arrival of Thomas Kaminski from Luton Town during the summer transfer window, Maynard-Brewer has found himself behind both the Belgian and Will Mannion in the pecking order.

At this stage of his career, and with less than a year remaining on his contract, it would be no surprise to see Maynard-Brewer leave Charlton to become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere during the January transfer window.

Maynard-Brewer is heading towards his prime years as a goalkeeper, and having proven himself at League One level with the Addicks in previous terms, dropping back down to the third tier could make a lot of sense for him in the winter window.

1 ? ? Karoy Anderson

Charlton midfielder Karoy Anderson may be interested in a loan move during the January transfer window, having found himself comfortably down the midfield pecking order so far this term.

The 21-year-old made 46 appearances in all competitions last season as Charlton won promotion from League One via the play-offs, but he has struggled for game time this season following the summer arrivals of Sonny Carey and Harvey Knibbs.

Anderson featured for Jamaica during the recent international break, so he is at least playing some senior football, but it would be no surprise if he wanted to play more regularly at club level during the second half of the campaign.

Nathan Jones made it clear how highly he rates the midfielder when he signed a new contract in September, so a loan move would make the most sense if he is going to depart.

Like Maynard-Brewer, Anderson also proved himself capable at League One level last season, and so sending him back to the third tier on a temporary basis to get some much-needed experience and perhaps restore some confidence, could make a lot of sense for everyone involved.
