A small transfer fee for Sieb? Bayern sells talent well below market value | OneFootball

FC Bayern has officially announced another departure. Armindo Sieb is leaving the German record champions and will continue his career in the U.S. The 23-year-old is joining Los Angeles FC, where he has signed a contract through 2029. FC Bayern will receive only a nominal transfer fee.

The next Bayern departure is official. Armindo Sieb is leaving Munich to join Los Angeles FC.

Sieb had no prospects at FC Bayern. The attacking player was on loan to 1. FSV Mainz 05 for the past two years, where he played a total of 62 competitive matches. In Munich, however, he was never able to establish himself on the first team.

It is now official that his time with the record champions has come to a definitive end. Particularly notable is the comparatively low transfer fee.

Bayern Receives a Minimal Transfer Fee

As reported by Transfermarkt.de, Sieb is moving to Los Angeles for just 500,000 euros. Compared to his current market value—estimated at 2.5 million euros—this sum is extremely low. This means Bayern is apparently receiving only a fraction of the forward’s theoretical market value.

Sieb still had a contract in Munich running through 2027. Nevertheless, it was already clear before the start of the season that coach Vincent Kompany had no plans for the forward. Although he initially continued to train with the team and even traveled with them on their Asian tour, his future at Säbener Straße remained uncertain.

Partnership Could Explain Low Transfer Fee

One possible explanation for the low transfer fee is the special relationship between the two clubs. Los Angeles FC is a partner club of FC Bayern as part of Red&Gold Football, a joint venture between the Munich-based club and LAFC.

In connection with Sieb’s transfer, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund emphasized the importance of the partnership: “Armindo Sieb has gained a great deal of experience in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga over the past few years. We’re very pleased that, following Timothy Tillman, he is now the second player to make his way from our campus to our Red&Gold partner club, Los Angeles FC. We know he’s in very good hands there and will take the next step in his career.”

The partnership may therefore have played a role in the financial terms as well. Instead of selling the player to just any buyer, Bayern is enabling its young talent to take the next step in his career within its own partner network.
