According to Globo.com, Abel Ferreira wants Palmeiras to enter the market for a replacement for Allan, sold to Manchester City in a 40 million euro deal, about R$ 240 million.

Speaking before Wednesday’s match against Santos at Nubank Parque, the Portuguese said the club must find the resources to bring in reinforcements.

He highlighted the academy’s scouting and recruitment, stressing he decides when youngsters are ready, and argued that losing Allan means finding equivalent funds to secure a successor. He framed his tenure as winning titles while elevating homegrown talent and Brazilian football.

Allan had been used as a wing-back after a switch to three centre-backs following the World Cup pause. The forward impressed and drew City’s interest, joining as a replacement for Savinho, sold to Tottenham.

Club president Leila Pereira said she did not want to sell but viewed the bid as too significant and respected Allan’s wish to move to England. She added that the academy pipeline underlines Palmeiras’ credibility and that his farewell is imminent.

Despite the coach’s stance, Palmeiras are expected to lean on their squad and do not plan to recruit a direct replacement. The decision on who fills Allan’s role now rests with Abel Ferreira.
